Paddling the Salmon River (Oregon)

This past weekend was warm enough for some serious snow melt and on Sunday we took advantage of it with a late season run of the Salmon River. Surrounded by old growth forest, this is a beautiful Class 3 technical run at 2500 cfs on the Sandy at Marmot gauge. It’s all boat-scoutable except the one rapid I captured everyone in the group running. This is a short video because I was too busy darting around from eddy to eddy and catching waves on the fly to bother with the camera much. Special thanks to Greg Davenport for the video of me and the opening photo.
